Civil organizations in Bulgaria are coming out with a joint campaign for the European elections
For the first time, so many and diverse civil society organisations from the country will help each other during the campaigns related to the European elections. This was agreed at the House of Europe by those participating in a meeting on establishing partnerships for the European elections. The initiative is of the Citizen Participation Forum, the National Youth Forum and supported by the Bureau of the European Parliament in Bulgaria, which recognize the need of the organizations to connect, coordinate and support common campaigns to increase engagement and awareness of the European elections in 2024.
During the opening of the meeting, the Director of the Citizen Participation Forum, George Petrov, and the Vice-President of the National Youth Forum, Andreas Petkov, addressed the need for consolidated and coordinated activities. The Head of the Bureau of the European Parliament in Bulgaria, Teodor Stoychev, briefed the audience on the planned institutional campaign of the European Parliament for the elections.
Nearly 30 organisations took part in the meeting by presenting their own ideas for activities, exchanging ideas for improvement and creating partnerships. The initiative managed to bring together not only members of the three networks but also other civil society organisations interested in the topic. The planned campaigns are extremely diverse but also find intersections.
At the end of the meeting, together with the National Youth Forum, we presented to the participants a coordination and communication mechanism to be used until the end of the campaign in order to increase the effectiveness of the activities planned by the different organizations. As a result of the event, a common communication channel will be established in the form of a Facebook page where information on the activities and initiatives of all CSOs that became part of the initiative will be published.
